Barbelo

Barbelo is a visceral, high-concept collaboration between the Butoh master Marco Nektan and the avant-garde percussionist Stephen Flinn. Named after the Gnostic figure representing the first emanation of the Divine, the performance functions as a ritualistic exploration of creation, the feminine principle, and the „divine shadow“ that resides within the human subconscious. At its core, the work is a profound dialogue between silence and noise.

Marco Nektan

In his twenty-year career,  has created over 500 works in Serbia, Germany and Europe. He has a Master's degree in dramatic and A/V arts – Creative Production, and currently pursuing his PhD studies in Polymedia art. Butoh, as the most important medium of his work, he learned from the great masters from Japan and Europe. He has collaborated with several alternative theaters, dance and art troupes from Serbia and various European countries. He is a member of the World Mime Organization and CID-UNESCO Council of dance.    In 2020, the monograph 'Something called butoh' was published by the Japanese Dance Archive, where Marco Nektan was listed as an international Butoh artist.
